Six Months in One Post

It's been 6 months since I last posted. Time seems to be whizzing by us! The kids are now out of school for the summer...yay! I miss spending my days with them and am excited to have almost three months with them. Hopefully, we'll be able to do some camping, picnicking, swimming and work on a few projects we have in mind. Let's see....what's been happening around here? The kids both did well in school and enjoyed their year of kindergarten. They are both reading and writing and full of inventive, imaginative, and wonderful conversation. Both Nicholas and Gabby won Prairie Dog Paw awards at school. Their school gives out one or two of these awards to each grade level every month or so...for acts of kindness, improvement, responsibility, etc.
I enjoyed putting together the school fundraising auction in the Spring and working on the PTO. Next year, I will be the PTO president...something that I am both excited and nervous about! I really love the school and I get so much joy from volunteering and being around the kids.
One of my favorite school days last year was Dr. Seuss Day. The kids were encouraged to dress up as favorite characters from a book. Nicholas and Gabby dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from the Cat in the Hat. The PTO moms made a delicious lunch of Green Eggs and Ham. Surprisingly, the kids LOVED it and many had seconds and even thirds!
In May, Gabby broke her left arm. Actually, they called it a 'buckle fracture', which the doctor described as similar to denting a soda can. She was in a splint for about a week or so and then a hot pink cast for another 4-5 weeks. She was quite the trooper and rarely complained about the cast. All her friends at school covered the cast with their signatures and she even had me sign the cast for Bingo and Lucky (our beagles). She just got the cast off on June 9th....just in time for summer vacation.
Today, we are hanging out with Chad and celebrating Father's Day. We're thankful that he's such a wonderful daddy. The kids both adore him.
Here are some photos from the last six months or so...enjoy!

A new color (yes, another one) for the living room

A few photos of the decor I put together for a twins club party (the Mother of the Year revealing!)

A few photos from February...including a rare photo of the elusive Chad.

Cinco De Mayo party at Alvin's house. This was the day Gabby broke her arm...but before we knew it was broken. She really whacked that pinata too. Even with the splint by Dr. Matt, she said it hurt quite a bit when she hit it. Poor Gabby. (Notice how Nick dove right for the belly of the pinata donkey)

Gabby brought Krispee Kreme donuts to school for her "un-Birthday" Celebration

We went to see our little friend Chloe in the Spokane Childrens Theater's production of Annie...She was amazing!

Nick and Gabby participated in the Hillyard Tricycle Races...Grampa Jack flagged the races. There were two qualifying heats...Gabby was 2nd in her heat and Nick was 1st in his so they both raced in the final race. Nick got second place! Gabby didn't place and was bummed out at first but told us later that it made her happy and proud that Nick got second place.

Admiring his ribbon at ArtFest

new meaning for the term "head rest"

Making fish prints is always a favorite at ArtFest. This year, Gabby painted a real fish and Nick painted a faux fish.

We spent the afternoon following the tricycle race at ArtFest. The kids had fun crafting and eating...and I tried to squeeze in a little bit of "looking at the art".
